Electrical Panel Services in the North Shore

Serving Salem, Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Lynn & Surrounding Areas

How much do you know about your home’s electrical panel? If you’re a homeowner, it may be a subject worth revisiting. The electrical panel in your home is like the brain of your electrical system. The panel prevents damaging and potentially dangerous electrical overloads: If an outlet is ever overloaded, the panel is triggered, and it shuts off electrical current to that section of your wiring. But is yours doing its job?

How To Tell If You Need An Electrical Panel Upgrade

In order to determine if you need an electrical panel upgrade, you need to start by asking a few questions:

  • What amperage does your panel support?
  • Do you have a fuse box or a circuit breaker?
  • Is it a Federal Pacific brand product?
  • Are you running major appliances on an old system?
  • When was the last time you had it restored?

The life span of an electrical panel is between 20 and 30 years: If you are beyond that range, you need an upgrade. Even if you aren’t, though, the reality is that older electrical panels typically just can’t keep up with modern homes. Our appliances are now larger and higher-efficiency, and panels that aren’t upgraded could be under strain. You’ll start to notice that you lose power more often, and you may not be able to run several major devices at once. Worse, if your breaker isn’t effective at preventing overloads, it could be a safety hazard: The National Fire Protection Association reports that electrical fires caused over 400 civilian deaths and $1.5 billion in direct property damage between 2007 and 2011.

Ready to upgrade your home’s electrical panel? Give the team at Cranney a call at 978-750-6900 to schedule electrical panel services for your Andover, MA, area home!

Electrical Panel Upgrades In Danvers, MA

Don’t worry: Cranney Home Services can help. Our expert electricians provide not only GFCI installations and circuit breaker panel services but also panel restoration services for all of your upgrading needs. Your family’s convenience and safety are our top priorities, and with Cranney’s residential electric service at your command you can be sure that you’ll get the job done right the first time.

Not sure if you need a panel restoration? It can be difficult to preempt panel problems, but there are several signs that you should have one of our licensed professionals come in and perform an inspection.

Heavy Ups

An electrical heavy up raises the amperage entering your home; usually, it involves an increase from 100 amps to 200 amps. This panel upgrade can manage the heavier electrical demands many families experience today. Heavy ups are not DIY projects. You need a licensed electrician for safe, effective panel upgrades.

Signs you need a heavy up include:

  • Adding a new HVAC or another large appliance will increase the need for electricity
  • Frequent circuit breaker tripping
  • Lights dim/flicker, especially when another appliance is turned on
  • Remodeling increases square footage
  • Your panel uses fuses

Overloaded electrical panels are dangerous and can create fire hazards. Even if you have no electrical issues, a heavy up can increase performance by delivering faster, safer electricity when and where you need it. An upgraded panel will increase property value and marketability if you plan to sell your property.

Call (978) 750-6900 to schedule an appointment in Lynn or Revere.

Reasons To Restore Your Electrical Panel

Here are the most common situations that call for electrical panel service:

  • You’re about to remodel your home
  • You’ve recently purchased additional large appliances (fridge, washing machine, hot tub, etc.)
  • You have a Federal Pacific panel  these panels are from the ’50s and ’60s, and they are notorious for causing electrical fires in homes
  • You want to add more circuits but your panel is full
  • You hear buzzing/humming noises by the panel
  • Your fuses are blown, but you don’t know what size to replace them with
  • Your circuits are repeatedly breaking in normal situations
  • The breaker box itself shows signs of rust or disrepair

You don’t need to live with your outdated, broken, or even dangerous breaker panel for another day. Call Cranney Home Services today at 978-750-6900 to have our team inspect and restore your panel today.

Federal Pacific Electric Panel Replacement Info

Many homes in the North Shore and Merrimack Valley region have Federal Pacific electric panels. These older panels are actually quite dangerous, as they have been found to put the home at high risk for an electrical fire. They were made cheaply and fail to trip around a quarter of the time, even when they should. This high failure rate means you can have a higher risk for a fire.

If your home has a Federal Pacific electric panel, you’re in danger. You need to replace the electric panel as quickly as possible to protect your home and your family. Cranney Home Services offers Federal Pacific electric panel replacement to protect your home, so you can be confident you aren’t sitting on a powder keg just waiting for a fire to start.

Call Cranney Home Services for Federal Pacific electric panel replacement information at 978-750-6900.

Breaker Panel Repairs & Replacement

  • Lights are flickering or dimming when you turn them on
  • Sparking or buzzing from the electrical panel
  • Frequently tripping breakers
  • Hot or burning smells from the electrical panel

If you’re noticing that it’s not working properly, or if it’s an older model that’s outdated, you need the services of a professional electrician. Cranney Home Services has professional, licensed electricians who can help you repair your electrical panel. If it’s an older or outdated model, we can also replace it.
